the bibary :)

today is our last storytime of the summer... i'm a little sad, b/c when the fall program starts i will be working and unable to go...also b/c what will i do on thursdays for the last month of summer! i love going to the bibary...our local library is downtown in an amazing old building next to old-town winchester...it's beautiful, and filled with books. i love books..the look, the texture the smell...and i want to instill that love in my child...books are an incredible gift we can give our kids...i sound kinda preachy, but it's something i love and i want my child to love, and so far he does! so today we will go to the bibary at 10:15 and listen to some stories and sing some songs and of course ride the elevator! and bring home new books to discover fo the rest of the week
and of course the biggest perk is- it's free!

God says...

you have something you don't want to do, but you know God wants you to do it...He and i have been "wrestling" the past couple of days, the funny thing is, what he wants me to do, is not a big deal at all...in fact i told my husband and he teased me :) it's just hard for me- thus why He wants me to do it...it actually is beneficial for me, it just puts me out of my comfort zone, and that's an area i don't do so well...so tonight Lord, this is for You, b/c if it were up to me...i'd forfeit the benefit :)

the ducks

tonight we went to our local park to feed the ducks! ethan loves the ducks. when we were getting out of the car, i reminded him " we don't touch the ducks right ethan?" he said, " can i talk to them, say quack, quack!" i of course, told him yes. maybe, I am raising the duck whisperer.. :)
so, when you start feeding the ducks they all start heading for you, from all over the pond, it's almost creepy. but today...they started getting out of the water and coming up to us on the sidewalk. i did not like that very much! ducks are dirty...who knows what diseases or germs they are carrying! so, i kept making jamie move to the side with ducks and "protect" us from the ducks. they were definitely some bold ducks in the pond tonight! :)

life is good!

life with a 2-year old!

Today, we at dinner with Elmo. Yes, we have a large Elmo doll that my son received for Christmas ($10 at walmart!). Ethan had been playing with it this afternoon so when it was dinner time he decided Elmo needed to eat also- who can argue with that? Luckily we have 4 chairs at the table and only 3 people. But wait, it gets better...Ethan decided he wanted to share his food with Elmo, which is actually really nice, but after every bite, he would push his bowl of noodles to Elmo and wait for him to "eat". So, I did what any sane mother would do, I got Elmo his own bowl and fork of noodles. And Ethan was happy! I am quite enjoying life with a 2 year old. I feel younger and laugh more than I have in a long time! Thanks Ethan, for dinner with Elmo.

4th of July

4th of July is my absolute favorite holiday! I love it! I love the parade and the picnics and the fireworks. I am one of the sappy Americans who cry at all the Patriotic songs and tributes. My church in Va had a 4th of July service last Sunday and I was near tears for most of it! I am Proud to be an American! :)
So tomorrow a.m. my little family is driving back to Pa to visit my family and celebrate Independence Day! I am very excited. I cannot wait to see my friend Janis- who I miss very much and let Ethan see the family!
I just pray traffic isn't too bad tomorrow! :)
